In a recent appearance with Joe Rogan, billionaire electric vehicle (EV) guru Elon Musk claimed that before he took over X (formerly Twitter), the social media platform was run by extreme leftists with an axe to grind against Republicans.
“Republicans were suppressed at 10 times the rate of Democrats,” Musk told Rogan, adding that in many ways, then-Twitter was simply a propaganda extension of the United States government.
“The degree to which Twitter was simply an arm of the government was not well understood by the public,” Musk added. “And it was whatever, everything was like Pravda basically, a state publication, is the way to think of old Twitter. A state publication.”
Even “middle-of-the-road” views, Musk continued, were not allowed on Twitter. Only far-left content was promoted on the social media platform.
“There was basically oppression [sic] of any views that, even I would say, be considered middle-of-the-road,” Musk said. “Certainly, anything on the right – and I’m not talking about far-right; I’m just talking mildly right.”

After giving a lay of the land concerning pre-Musk Twitter, Musk went on to chat about billionaire financier George Soros, whom Musk believes is “the top contributor to the Democratic Party, and the second one was Sam Bankman-Fried.”
“And Soros, he had a very difficult upbringing. And in my opinion, he fundamentally hates humanity.”
Musk would continue that he believes George Soros has an agenda to “erode the fabric of civilization,” a viewpoint that Turning Point USA’s Charlie Kirk, who recently spread anti-Gaza hatred and hysteria, would seem to support since he retweeted the Musk interview.
One of Soros’ skills, according to Musk, is that he is really good at spotting arbitrage opportunities, seeing them as providing a better return on investment than other investments, allowing him to influence local political races in order to change a culture and its laws.
Several commenters who watched the podcast pointed out that Musk is pretty much stating the obvious, reiterating things we have already known for years about power brokers like Soros and their impact on nations.
“Well yeah, Elon, that’s why I never had anything to do with Twitter,” one of them wrote.
“What?! I’m totally shocked … said no one ever,” joked another. “In the immortal words of John McClaine: ‘Welcome to the party, pal!'”
Someone else pointed out that the many other major propaganda networks are still intact, even if Musk feels as though he is making a dent by rebranding Twitter as X and pushing it on the world as some kind of free speech alternative to the former Twitter.
A recent study, in case you missed it, found that censorship has actually increased on X ever since Musk took over the platform – is the guy just another globalist plant pretending to support free speech?
MRC Free Speech America found compared to pre-Musk Twitter, X censorship has increased substantially with 293 documented cases of censorship after his takeover compared to just 226 documented cases of censorship in the same equivalent time period before his takeover.
