The head of Germany’s version of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has come up with a new scheme aimed at silencing all truth from spreading.
German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser says the solution to “fake news” and the “spread of disinformation” is to simply criminalize any and all expressions of speech that she and her fellow bureaucrats decide is “false” and off-limits to the public.
You may have heard Faeser’s name before since she is the same politician who is trying to ban a right-leaning publication called Compact magazine from being published in Germany. Now she wants to expand that ban to include all sorts of other publications and content that offends her.
The Interior Ministry says it is open to Faeser’s suggestions, which will be “analyzed” in the coming days. The German federal agency also said it plans to “examine the extent to which (Faeser’s recommendations)” can be incorporated into its work.
“In a world where war is peace, freedom is slavery, etc., Faeser’s council’s full name is, ‘Forum against Fakes – Together for a Strong Democracy,'” writes Didi Rankovic for Reclaim the Net.
“But it’s questionable how German democracy could benefit from an even more draconian clampdown on speech than what is currently happening.”

You might assume that Faeser is just one person with a few whacked-out ideas that will never become law in Germany, but think again. Reports indicate that a shocking 91 percent of those participating in her council, around 420,000 people, support “examining criminal prosecution and / or sanctioning the spread of disinformation.”
In many ways, Faeser’s council engages in what Rankovic describes as “policy laundering.” This means taking the ideas of individual politicians and accepting and adopting them as if they are also supported by constituents, even if that is not actually the case.
Like all the other tyrants out there right now, Faeser cannot even define what “disinformation” is. The German people are expected to simply accept government overreach into their beliefs whenever Faeser and her ilk decide that what people are saying and sharing with one another is unacceptable.
The general definition for “disinformation” is information that is false but being spread on purpose in order to manipulate people. Faeser also adds to that information that aims “to influence public debates, divide society, and weaken cohesion and democracy.”
One might argue that this definition of “disinformation” is subjective, which it is. Anything could be demonstrably perceived to influence what people believe, how they debate, and how they get along with their unbelieving neighbors, which means “disinformation” is an arbitrary term.
Leave it to the “save democracy” crowd to make the argument that authoritarianism is needed to protect non-authoritarianism, aka “democracy.” It is a misnomer on its very face, if only more people could see the political misdirection for what it is.
To punish people for “weakening cohesion” as Faeser and her council want is to basically subject them to forced reeducation, aka to force them into concentration camps where they can be reprogrammed into how to think “correctly” in accordance with the tyrants.
“‘Deter’ and ‘increase awareness of wrongdoing’ is how this is worded,” Rankovic explains about the open-ended wording of Faeser’s censorship proposal and what it will do to German society.
“However, observers are not sure such measures can coexist with Germany’s Basic Law and its provisions meant to protect freedom of expression.”
